Comments: Really a strong reel. Casts extremely well and is more than suitable to handle anything from spinnerbaits to large crankbaits and swimbaits. I would highly recommend to anyone.
From: Coach Van, OK 1/28/20
Comments: Buttery smooth reel. It feels much more rigid and powerful than the curado K and it is. You won't be disappointed BUT it is not a swimbait reel. The line capacity is the same as the curado K. If you want a powerful 200 sized reel suited for throwing swimbait or heavy resistance lures look at the Daiwa Tatula 200.

Comments: Bought this reel about a year ago. I have used it multiple times throwing A-rigs and swimbaits on a Dobyns Fury 795. Not a big fan of it. I put power pro 50lb braid to 15-20lb fluro leader and have had multiple backlashes with this reel. Yes, I have multiple baitcasters from Shimano and Daiwa that I never issues with like the Tranx 200. Have a Chronarch MGL with similar setup with zero issues. The Chronarch MGL is a great reel. The drag on the Tranx is, also, a problem. Even cranked down, it slips and is very inconsistent. Sometimes I crank it down with no issues, next time it's like I have completely backed it off but it's close to full pressure.I back off the drags on all my reels after I'm done fishing. There's a lot of play in the handle between the drag and gearbox too. Overall, not impressed. This one may just be a lemon. Wish I would have bought a Tatula 200 instead.

Comments:I bought this reel to put on my punching setup, and let me tell you, this thing is a beast. It feels great in the hands, incredibly smooth, and more power than you could need. I also took it down to Venice for a red fishing trip and it was a workhorse down there as well. I now throw swimbaits, big swim jigs, alabama rigs, and any powerfishing you could think of on top of punching. If you're on the fence just go ahead and buy it because you'll use it for way more than you think. I have it paired with a 7'7 XH Phenix Feather rod and its an amazing setup.

Comments:This reel is phenomenal! Just a pleasure to have this reel. Smoother than any reel I have used this far. I have fished this reel for bullseye snakehead down here in south Florida for the last year and it is a tank! This reel does take a little time to wear the drag in, however, the more you use it, the more comfortable it gets. Also this reel feels AMAZING in the hands. I have this paired up with a heavy shimano zodias. The combo is unreal, do yourself a favor and pick this reel up! the quality you get out of this reel for the price is unmatched within it's class.

Comments:Game changer right here, so happy they came out with a 200 size in the Tranx. Bought one when they first got released and zero issues. The presentations you can throw on this reel are endless. Do yourself a favor and get one. You won't be disappointed.

Comments:I absolutely love the Tranx 200! You can literally tow a boat with this reel. Low profile with a massive gear box that fits & feels so comfortable o my hand. Shimano did an excellent job producing this reel. Excellent investment for the money.
From:Mac Collins :Tucson Arizona7/12/19
Comments:This reel is nice straight out of the box.All my reels are shimano and this one is just a beefed up curado k.However, I used my first tranx 200 XHG fresh water only. I used it for frogging.Since it's a saltwater reel too, I used it at the beach just once. After that, the reel wasnt the same.It started clicking and grinding when I would turn the handle. I did rinse it after I used it in saltwater so I dont know what the issue was. I ended up getting rid of it and bought another one because I loved the reel for my bass fishing. Well I didnt learn the first time I guess but I used my second reel at the coast again and long story short. The exact same thing happened.Clicking and grinding. I would love to get another but I just cant afford to spend 200 ever time. I'll just take my loss with this reel. Again, all my reels are shimano and perform great. It's just this real that has given me issues
From: Unknown 6/25/19
Comments:This reel is amazing. I have used this reel for a straight with small crankbaits and it wings them pretty darn far for a baitcaster. Im a big walleye fisherman and this reel is perfect
From:Hunter6/25/19
Comments:I love it! It has the feel in the hand of the Curado 200K, but the power it has is unbelievable. The regular Tranx handle they put on there is a nice touch too. By far my new favorite huge jig and deep crank reel.
From: Jack:St. Louis, MO3/5/19
Comments:This is a phenomenal reel.
I've been using the Tranx 200 alongside a Curado 200k for the past couple months for fishing the bays in socal. I've also used the tranx to throw larger baits and smaller swimbaits and glidebaits in the 3/4 - 1.5 ounce range. I must say, this thing is great. It's the same design and body as a curado k, but the internals are beefed up drastically. The handle is longer, which I love, and you can tell how well it's sealed for saltwater. I've fished this thing a lot, just with a brief freshwater wash after each long session, and it feels as good as it did on day 1. The drag is also beefed up really well. Shimano claims 13 lbs, but I'm pretty sure that is a conservative rating. I measured mine at 15lbs, and the drag is smooth. For fishing calicos and other fishing when you're fishing high drag, you can really tell the smoothness of the drag in comparison to the curado, which seemed to be a bit jerky on those higher drag settings. I can't pinpoint it, but for some reason this thing also feels a lot more comfortable throwing larger baits than the curado.
For what it is and the price, I have to give this thing a 9.5/10. I'm a bay fishing enthusiast for spottys, calicos, corvina and halibut here in socal, but go to college in Oregon, where I fish for river smallmouth in the Willamette and Columbia rivers. These rivers are brackish and salty, as they are connected to the ocean. Fishing up there did a toll on my curado k, so I'm excited to have this reel for that purpose as well.If there are any aspects I could criticize the tranx for, it would be casting distance and smoothness when turning the handle. They are both good, but not as good as the curado, which I should emphasize is phenomenal in both of those regards. The reeling is still super super smooth and silent, but it just doesn't have that almost weightless, effortless reeling that the curado has.
If I were exclusively fishing for bass freshwater and could only have 1 reel, I'd still take the curado, but as a second reel, especially for throwing the larger jigs, swimbaits, etc, or if you fish any saltwater, pick up the tranx.
